RM) 1-point-2 MILLION twenty year olds were honored recently during Japan_s COMING OF AGE DAY. Turning twenty in Japan means you can finally drink smoke and vote legally. That_s far later than in MOST other countries but I guess all good things come to those who wait Eila EA) (laughs with slight look to side) You_ve got that right The biggest party took place at Disneyland in Tokyo with hundreds of kimono-clad women clamoring for a photo with Mickey Mouse. While the 1-point-2 million number sounds huge it_s actually a record LOW for the country Kudos to each and every one of them. Now get back to making babies2. RM) Things elsewhere in Asia haven_t been as cheerful lately. When news broke of the passing of North Korean dictator _____ millions of citizens POURED into the streets to express their grief. Well it turns out some people didn_t grieve HARD enough Eila. And so the government is punishing anyone who MISSED the mass gatherings with a six-month labour camp sentence EA) Same goes for people who DID attend but who didn_t seem sad enough. And it doesn_t stop there either. Sentences are also being handed to anyone who attempted to leave the country during the extended mourning period for the Eternal Leader and to anyone who tried using a cell phone to make calls out. Better brush up on those acting skills3. RM) We_ve all got our nightmare air travel stories but this one_s pretty hard to top Passengers aboard a recent British Airways flight from Miami to London saw their lives flash before their eyes when a recording came on over the PA telling them to brace for an emergency water landingEA) For about 30 seconds hundreds of passengers thought they were headed towards a cold watery grave... and then a flight attendant came on and announced that it was all just a big mix-up Apparently the pre-recorded emergency announcement was played by ACCIDENT. Whoops BA has apologized for the incident but the customers on board are understandably still shaken up. RM) It sounds terrifying.
