Here_s Eila Adams. Kat, a global deal on climate change has been tentatively agreed by nearly 200 countries. World leaders have been holding talks at a UN-sponsored summit in Paris since the beginning of December. The agreement will see countries limit the rise of worldwide temperatures to less than 4 degrees Fahrenheit by cutting their carbon emission contributions. The plans will now have to be ratified by individual governments before moving ahead. It_s a landmark day for women in Saudi Arabia. Up to 17 female candidates have been elected to local councils in the ultra-conservative kingdom. It_s the first time that women have been allowed to vote and run for office in the country_s history. 82 percent of registered female voters took part in the historic event. Saudi women are currently banned from driving and must be accompanied by a male relative whenever they leave their home. And Julian Assange is to be questioned by Swedish authorities at the Ecuadorian embassy in London over charges of rpg. Assange has been living at the embassy for more than three years after the country granted him political asylum. Assange had previously refused to meet with Swedish officials, fearing extradition to the US if he set foot outside of the building. Assange claims that US officials could seek the death penalty for his involvement in publishing government secrets on the Wikileaks website. They don_t get much more controversial then Julian Assange, Kat.I remember when he was public enemy number 1. It_s no wonder he fled to that embassy. Thanks for the updates Eila.
