Kat Curtis is standing by now with a few of today_s top stories.The CEO of tech giant, Toshiba, has stepped down over an accounting scandal. Hisao Tanaka resigned after an independent panel reported that the company had overstated profits by over a BILLION dollars. The misreporting began after the 2008 financial crash when management felt pressure to keep the money rolling in. Shares in the company have dropped 20 percent since news of the investigation leaked in April. Toshiba will now have to restate all profits for the period between April 2008 and March 2014.Historic Grocery chain A&P has filed for bankruptcy. The 156-year-old company has struggled to compete against lower-cost competitors like Wal-Mart, as well as with higher-end options like Whole Foods. 120 of its nearly 300 stores will be sold off, affecting over 12 thousand of its 29 thousand-strong workforce. This is the SECOND time the troubled retailer has filed for bankruptcy protection. And a new poll from the Associated Press-GfK shows that Americans remain sharply divided over same-sex marriage. Only 39 percent approve of the Supreme Court decision to legalize gay marriage. Just under half of those polled believe officials with religious objections should not have to issue marriage licenses, and 56 percent believe that religious beliefs should trump the rights of same-sex couples.
