Eila by the end of 2015 there were 3.2 BILLION people online Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has made it his goal to bring internet access to everyone on the planet. Facebook_s figures show 200 million more people were plugged in last year thanks to more affordable data and rising global incomes. Zuckerberg launched the Internet.org campaign three years ago to bring the economic opportunities of the internet to everyone. He_s still got a long way to go. The latest numbers show there are still 4.1 billion people without online access. Now to a damning report on the stunning lack of diversity in Hollywood. A study from USC has found that the majority of leading media companies are quote unquote whitewashed and that an epidemic of invisibility is affecting women minorities and members of the LGBT community in show business. The exhaustive report looked at 109 major movies and 305 TV series finding that only a third of speaking characters were women and that just 2 percent were LGBT-identified. Things were even worse BEHIND the camera where about 90 percent of directors were white men. And California health officials have voted AGAINST a bill that would have forced porn actors to wear condoms. The bill needed four yes votes to pass but ended one short at 3 to 2 in favor. It appears legislators listened to complaints from the porn industry that people don_t want to watch films where the actors are wearing protection. They claimed that forcing condom laws would ruin the multi-billion dollar industry or force it underground. Eila they_d argued that if porn production went underground it would become even more dangerous to performers due to a lack of testing.Makes sense to me.
