The Oscar nominations are out and there were winners plural in the massive Powerball lottery. Here_s Kat with a Naked News Bulletin. Eila there were 3 winning tickets in the 1.6 BILLION dollar Powerball lottery draw from Wednesday night. It_s insane to think they all beat the 292 million-to-one odds of scooping the record-breaking prize. The trio of winning tickets were sold in Chino Hills California Munford Tennessee and Melbourne Beach Florida. If the winners choose to receive their share as a lump sum payout they_ll each get around 310 million before taxes. Not too shabby. Cable news channel Al Jazeera America is shutting down as of April 30th. The US offshoot of the Qatar-based broadcaster was first launched in August 2013 after buying out Current TV. The channel won numerous awards but failed to connect with an audience. During peak prime time viewing hours ratings averaged 10 times LESS than rival CNN. Although the TV venture is dead the company says it still plans to cover US news via its international digital services. And the 2016 Oscar nominations are out. The Revenant leads the way with 12 nominations including best picture best director and best lead actor for Leonardo DiCaprio. Mad Max: Fury Road picked up nods for best picture best director and 8 other categories. And The Martian is in the running for 7 awards including best lead actor for Matt Damon. The biggest surprises came from indie film Room which got a Best Picture nod and saw Brie Larson snag her first best actress nomination. Eila let_s talk snubs: a lot of people thought Idris Elba should have been nominated for best supporting actor for his performance in Beasts of No Nation.
