Besides Leo_s trophy The Revenant also took home awards for best director and best cinematography. The other big winner of the night was the crime drama SPOTLIGHT. The film chronicles the real-life investigation into child abuse in the Catholic church. He may not have been up for an award but Chris Rock is DEFINITELY a contender for the most-talked about monologue in Oscar history The comedian pulled no punches as he opened the broadcast with HIS take on the current lack of diversity in Hollywood. Chris ALSO took some time to poke fun at the celebs who were BOYCOTTING the ceremony because of the lack of non-white nominees. As far as I_m concerned you can host again ANYTIME Chris There were plenty of OTHER memorable moments in the program. Lady Gaga_s stunning performance of her Oscar nominated song Til It Happens to You brought down the house with a standing ovation. But the WEIRDEST appearance had to be from actress-turned Fox News correspondent Stacey Dash. Take a look. What was that? For her part Stacey says it was a joke about the Oscar_s lack of black performers. Stacey here_s a tip-if you have to explain the joke it didn_t work Okay enough about the Oscars Back in the REAL world a Navy SEAL was honored on Monday with the nation_s HIGHEST award for valor in combat. President Obama presented Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator Edward Byers with The Medal of Honor for his part in rescuing an American doctor from the Taliban in 2012. Byers used his OWN body as a human shield to protect the hostage from gunfire. The White House praised Byers courageous actions and selfless service during the dangerous mission. An investigation into corruption in Nigeria has discovered nearly 24 THOUSAND fake workers employed by the government The audit used biometric data and bank details to weed out the fraudulent staff. It_s part of an ongoing anti-corruption campaign to boost the country_s struggling economy. The move is expected to save the government around 11 million dollars a MONTH. And finally it_s a bachelor party the groom will NEVER forget A flight from London to Slovakia was forced to make an emergency landing in Berlin after a stag party got out of control. Six men including the groom were arrested for their disruptive behavior on-board including catcalling the flight attendants and even EXPOSING themselves to other passengers.
