All right, time for some NEWS Peyton Priestly_s standing by with an update on Guantanamo Bay, security for Obamas visit to Kenya, and some staggering figures on US political advertising. Notorious military prison Guantanamo Bay COULD be closing for good. Congress has REPEATEDLY blocked the White House_s attempts to transfer prisoners to US soil, or to release them back to their home countries. The White House announced on Wednesday that a new bill had been drafted that would give the President authority to move the remaining 116 prisoners and close the facility permanently. Kenya is on a high security alert for President Obama_s visit this weekend. Airspace above the country will close prior to his arrival on Friday, and again when he leaves on Sunday. A ban on aircraft flying lower than 20 thousand feet will also be in effect for the duration of his stay. The security concerns stem from local militant group Al-Shabab, who have terrorized Kenyans with numerous attacks in recent years.And with the 2016 presidential race approaching it_s time for everyone_s LEAST favorite election byproduct: political advertising. Total spending from all parties is expected to reach a record high, surpassing 12 BILLION dollars. That_s a 22 percent increase from the 2012 campaign. The majority of the big bucks will be filtered into TV spots, but there is a new shift into ONLINE campaigning, where just under a billion dollars is expected to be spent.
