Unfortunately due to a certain LIVE program on NBC, it wouldn_t have mattered WHO was the host. Here_s why. The big ratings juggernaut last week was was none other THAN, drum roll please...Sunday Night Football. More than 26 MILLION people tuned in to watch the Green Bay Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks on NBC. Everyone_s been talking about how bad the Emmys ratings were and putting the blame on Andy Samberg as host. The show only managed to pull in 12 million people, the lowest in the history of the broadcast. Unfortunately that_s just tough luck for Samberg because NO SHOW, scripted or not, can compete against the NFL. I blame the schedulers If you like playing amateur detective, then you_re going to love NBC_s newest show The network is currently developing a live-action version of its popular Law & Order franchise _You The Jury_ will feature real-life civil cases argued LIVE during the broadcast. Viewers will be asked to vote on the verdict, as well as offer their opinions of witness reliability and weigh in on evidence. I_m no expert, but all clues point to this one being a HITLiam Neeson_s popular Taken film franchise is heading to the SMALL screen. NBC has ordered an adaptation based on the action films. Neeson WON_T be appearing, as the new program will focus on a much younger version of his character. The story will explain how a young Bryan Mills came to acquire the expert skills he demonstrates so well later in life. Audiences can expected to be TAKEN IN by the series sometime next year. British tough guy Jason Statham will star and executive produce in a new hour long action thriller called Viva La Madness. Statham will play a man stranded in the Caribbean who wants to return to the life of crime he left behind. The big hitch is that he_s still wanted for his crimes, which makes returning to England a little more difficult than anticipated. So far, there_s no network attached to the project, but we promise to keep you updatedAnd the new Twin Peaks reboot just got a little sexier Amanda Seyfried has been added to the cast in what sources are calling a pivotal role. Amanda joins indie actor Balthazar Getty and original Twin Peaks cast member Kyle MacLachlan for the top secret project. Show runner David Lynch is filming the entire series as one long movie that will be broken up into individual episodes. You can catch it when it airs sometime in 2016 on Showtime. Sharapova had been taking the over-the-counter drug for ten years, and says she simply didn_t know it was banned. In any case, it looks like she_ll be back on the court grunting and hollering in time for the French Open in May 2017. Yay. Rose_s attorney submitted a 7-page document to Hall officials asking to have his eligibility restored. Now let_s get to the HEADLINES Here_s Angie Heyward Paul Ryan has only been the US Speaker of the House for a few days and he_s already tearing up the rule book In an interview with CBS_s Face the Nation, Ryan said he will be redesigning the role, instead of carrying on in the same style as his predecessor, John Boehner. Among his first pledges is to block any bipartisan immigration bills until President Obama leaves office in January 2017. The Republican National Committee has backed out of a scheduled debate in February to be hosted by NBC News. The move comes after last week_s CNBC debate where the Republican candidates felt that the news channel_s moderators asked questions that were mean-spirited and designed to embarrass them. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus says that the presidential contenders will still participate in a debate in February, but only if it_s moderated by the conservative publication, National Review. And Chipotle has closed 43 restaurants in Oregon and Washington state after an outbreak of E. coli. 22 cases have been reported so far, including 8 people who have been hospitalized. The illnesses have been traced to 6 specific locations, with Chipotle closing the remainder as an extra precaution. Of course, some people like to explore space from home, and China has a new tool to do it with Installation was just completed on the world_s largest radio telescope The Five Hundred Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, FAST for short, has a diameter of over 16-hundred feet, making it roughly the size of thirty soccer fields The telescope, which will be used to explore the universe and also look for extraterrestrial life, took over five years to build. And with all our new ways to explore space, it_s nice to know our old ones aren_t being forgotten NASA has extended its contract for the Hubble Space Telescope_s operation for another 5 years. The telescope was launched in 1990 and was only intended to be in use until 2005. In 2018, it will be joined in the cosmos by NASA_s James Webb Space Telescope, supplanting Hubble as space_s top observatory I_ve got to say, Eila. Jacksonville_s Blake Bortles threw for 5 touchdowns and 322 yards, while Titans signalcaller Marcus Mariota threw three of his own and added one on the ground with more than 100 yards rushing. When the smoke cleared the Titans were victorious, winning a 42 to 39 thriller And last but not least, Brock Osweiler is showing Denver fans that there IS life after Peyton Manning He led the Broncos to another win - this time against the rival Chargers. Osweiler kept the offense humming while Denver_s defense smothered San Diego en route to a 17 to 3 victory. The Portland Timbers are your 2015 MLS champions Portland took on the Columbus Crew at their home stadium in Ohio, and got off to a flying start Disastrous goalkeeping from the Crew_s Steve Clark allowed Portland to go ahead 1-nil in the game_s first 30 seconds It was all downhill from there for Columbus in what was a sloppy and physical final. Congrats The FBI is reportedly investigating FIFA boss Sepp Blatter for his role in a 100 million dollar bribery scandal In the 1990s, sports marketing company ISL paid 100 million for TV and marketing rights in matches throughout the 1990s. Blatter has always denied having any knowledge of or involvement in those payments. However according to the BBC, the FBI now has a written statement from former FIFA President Joao Havelange claiming Blatter knew EXACTLY what was going on. The 79-year old Blatter is currently serving a provisional 90-day suspension from FIFA and will face a hearing with the soccer body_s ethics judge later this month.
