The damage Hurricane Irma did to the state_s electrical infrastructure was less than expected As a result, almost all East Coast customers are expected to have their power back by Sunday, and those on the west should have theirs five days later Of course, some areas hit particularly hard will take longer, but for the MILLIONS without power, it_s welcome news indeed Recovery is going to take a lot longer in the Florida Keys. According to FEMA, a full 25 PERCENT of homes were destroyed by Hurricane Irma, and 90 PERCENT experienced some kind of damage Of course, some on the ground have refuted these FEMA estimates, pointing out no official assessment had been made. And Pizza Hut is under fire for seemingly trying to discourage employees of a Jacksonville, Florida location, from evacuating ahead of hurricane Irma. The announcement to employees has gone viral. Among the bullet points on the memo, one reads in part You cannot evacuate Friday for a Tuesday storm event and says people who missed shifts would get written up Pizza Hut subsequently issued a statement saying the manager wasn_t following company guidelines, but only after many online had told them where they could stuff their crusts Don_t go away.

Facebook_s already revealed that 126 million users were reached by propaganda efforts from Moscow.For me the big question becomes: how do we keep this from happening again?That_s ALSO something the US Senate_s wondering about, and they held a special session with three of the country_s top tech companies to get answers Welcome to the newsroom everyone. Lawyers from Facebook, Twitter, and Google were on the hot seat before a US Senate committee in Washington. Senators grilled them on the impact of Russian meddling in the election, and what the companies are doing to fix it. They didn_t seem very satisfied with the answers According to the committee, one Russian-run group called The Heart of Texas gained 250-thousand followers on Facebook. They even staged a rally at an Islamic centre in Houston, but oddly enough local media wasn_t able to find the organizers. Facebook says it has 10-thousand employees working on improving the platform_s safety and security. It wasn_t a good day for Facebook, but it_s been a great quarter The social media network announced ad revenues of more than ten billion over the last three months That_s an 80-percent jump over the same period last year, and good enough for a profit of 4.7 billion dollars. Looks like they_ll have plenty of rubles to spend on safety and security And a big congratulations goes out to the Houston Astros, your 2017 World Series champions Houston waited 55 years to win their first title and they did it in EPIC fashion They held off the Dodgers to win game 7, 5 to 1.
