Steve wanted to shoot a progressive bondage set, with Ariel starting off just frogtied, then moving to wrists and elbows behind her back (tight!) then finishing with a ballgag (and drool!!)
The lighting he wanted was soft, even, warm and flattering. It took a few iterations to get the effect we wanted- have a look at the first few of Steve's pics. We started with a hairlight behind Ariel to camera left, but it resulted in not-so-flattering shadows. We softened the overall lighting, moved the hairlight around and finally settled on a lighting plan which I *think* is what I've drawn here!
Ariel was in this very demanding tie quite a long time, and had to find lots of different poses. When we let her out she got a major endorphin rush- check out the last of Frank's photos for a floaty model! Bless... :-)

As the first part of Ariel's training, I decided she needed to be shown that even things she believed herself to be good at could prove themselves almost impossible to do. She needed to be taken down a few pegs to get into the correct submissive attitude to begin her training. So without even the 'comfort' of ropes to help her hold position, she had to demonstrate the many positions a Restrained Elegance slavegirl should be familiar with. Those she performed to an acceptable standard will form the basis for a lexicon of poses... but for now, have a look at the video of her performance.
I know the only bondage is her collar, but believe me some of these positions are a hell of a lot harder to hold than they look. My absolute favourite is the diabolical '45'. Simple enough- kneel, arms and elbows together behind the back, sitting up off your heels so your thighs are at 45 degrees. Even for a model, dancer and gymnast in as perfect physical condition as Ariel, this position is very demanding to hold for any length of time...

Hywel's note: the peril of doing this long-term bondage idea for real, with just Ariel and myself in the studio, is that you can cock things up. The tape ran out just at the critical point where I finally broke Ariel's will and she accepted food from my fork. I was gutted when I discovered that, but we couldn't exactly go back and shoot it again - it wasn't as though this was scripted or planned, this was reality TV bondage. So on we had to go. Apologies for the apparent jump in proceedings!

Frank's Idea

This was the last set we did at the first Restrained Elegance Bondage Photo Tutorial. Everyone had been playing 'tease Hywel' all day, especially about my barefoot fetish... I can't imagine where such a disrespectful attitude could have come from. The only person who was giving a lead in the cheekiness stakes was Ariel (as usual....) but I knew her punishment would come soon enough.
No, Frank's idea was cute, sexy and fun... and calculated to wind Hywel up ever-so-slightly. And did Ariel play up to it? Did she positively relish posing in those horrible rainbow stripy socks? Of course she did! Bah. And probably Humbug, to boot! :-)
The lighting we used here is one of my classic patterns, invented in the days where I couldn't have afforded a proper white infinity cove even if I'd know what one was. The soft, even but directional lighting comes mostly from lights behind the white cloth backdrop, fired through the cloth. You can balance that with frontal lighting from a single source like an umbrella to get good modelling on the face but hardly a hint of shadows.
OK, I admit it. Ariel did look stunning when the socks were used to put her in a tight hogtie and to gag her!

Behind The Scenes: Hannah's First Suspension
